Finally: Hakkasan Nightclub Preview Weekend Announced!

If you've been following us NiteLife Vegas, then you already know how excited we are about Hakkasan Nightclub.  After months of anticipation, the wait is almost over. Las Vegas' most talked about nightclub will be opening its doors for a preview event on April 18 - 21, 2013.  Expect music from Tommy Trash, Bingo Players, Hardwell and deadmau5.

One week later, Hakkasan officially launches with their Grand Opening weekend extravaganza!  Between April 25 - 28, the hotly anticipated club will host Steve Aoki, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Laidback Luke.  After months of hype and speculation, I can't wait to see if Hakkasan can live up to our lofty expectations.  Based on music alone, they are off to a good start.

All this excitement over Hakkasan almost makes me forget that there's another big nightclub opening this month.  But we'll shed more Light on that next week.

For more information and tickets to either of these exciting Hakkasan weekends, I recommend you head on over to NiteLife Vegas.

Vanilla Ice Brings the Cool to LAX on April 13!

All right stop, collaborate and listen, Vanilla Ice is back with a brand new invention.  Actually, I don't know if he has any new inventions, but I know where you can find out.  On April 13, the legendary Vanilla Ice will be performing live at LAX Nightclub!  If Mr. Cold As Ice has a new invention, I can guarantee that it will be debuted then.

Although Vanilla Ice's biggest hits came early (1990), he's been active in the music industry ever since.  He's release ten albums, including one coming out this year.  On top of music, Robert Van Winkle has been featured in movies and TV shows.  Now is your chance to see him live at one of the best nightclubs in Vegas.  How can you go wrong?

Hakkasan Chooses Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris and deadmau5!

If you've been keeping track of our Facebook Page, then it's likely you've already heard the news about Hakkasan Nightclub's roster of resident DJs.  As we near that mysterious launch date, Hakkasan is starting to nail down the specifics of what you can expect from this much-hyped Las Vegas hotspot.  Here's what we know: The music is going to rock!

With a roster that includes deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Steve Aoki, it's going to be tough for the other nightclubs to compete with Hakkasan.  Let's take a look at some of the official art ...

Known for his remixing, Steve Aoki is one of electronic music's most interesting figures.  From rock to rap to classic pop, Aoki isn't afraid to mix things up.  He's remixed some of the biggest names in music, including The Jackson 5, Drake, Kanye West, The Killers, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi and more.

Calvin Harris is an award magnet.  Not only has he won countless MTV Video Music Awards, Brit Awards and NME Awards, but he just won a Grammy Award THIS YEAR.  His music has appeared in movies, video games and TV commercials.  In fact, I would be very surprised if you hadn't heard at least one of Calvin Harris' upbeat tracks.

You don't get much bigger than deadmau5.  Hailing from Canada, I think it's safe to say that deadmau5 has conquered the world.  Thanks to a number of breakout hits and an aggressive fan base, deadmau5 has quickly become one of the most influential DJs working.  He's also one of the most sought after musicians, making this a real catch for Hakkasan.

Experience these exciting DJs at the Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand.  For more tickets and information about these events, make sure and check out the Hakkasan page at NiteLifeVegas.

Nelly is Hosting Industry Night at Haze Nightclub!

It's time to take another trip back to Nellyville!  On April 4, Haze Nightclub welcomes one of the biggest names in hip hop: Nelly!  That's right, the man behind "Country Grammar," "Ride Wit Me" and "Air Force Ones" is coming to Las Vegas and now is your chance to be part of the fun!

Did you know that Nelly has worked with a lot of top musicians?  No, seriously.  Who else can say they've worked with Kelly Rowland, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Murphy Lee, Fergie, Akon, Jermaine Dupri, Ashanti, Ciara, T-Pain and Adam Sandler?  You'll never believe what happens when Nelly invades Haze.

That's just the start of the fun at Haze Nightclub!  On March 21, join the Los Angeles Bikini Brigade for Model Madness.  DJ Pauly D returns to Haze on March 23.  And Mr. Mauricio performs an exciting guest DJ set on April 5.

For tickets and information, make sure and head over to the Haze Nightclub page on NiteLife Vegas!

The Untimely Death of a Nightclub: Part 1

After only 37 days of business, SHe Nightclub at Crystals has closed its doors.   Launched in February with "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria as a backer, SHe Nightclub failed to create much of a buzz.  To make matters worse, this comes shortly after Eva's last failed nightclub venture, the short-lived Eve Nightclub.

While many nightclubs go on to live a successful life, sometimes these venues fail in spectacular ways.  SHe Nightclub is not alone, as there have been dozens of obituaries written for hotspots on the Las Vegas Strip.

Take Fever, South Points's very own nightclub from the mid-2000s.  It launched in July and ran out of juice by September, giving us only 63 days of half-baked fun.  The nightclub figured that posting a few billboards, hiring dancers and setting up the bar would be enough.  That may be all it takes in other towns, but this is Las Vegas.  Fever quickly discovered that you needed more to attract picky Vegas tourists and locals.

Nikki Beach at Tropicana had a little more luck ... but not much.  After launching in April of 2011, this Miami Beach-inspired club was shuttered in September of the same year.

A similar fate struck 40/40 Club at the Palazzo.  Not even Jay-Z's name was able to make up for the nightclub's bad reputation.  After firing a large number of the employees within the first 72 hours, 40/40 Club was never able to find its footing again.  Not even star power was enough to keep this nightclub going for longer than eight months.

In retrospect, Club Seven/Alesium Afterhours is looking pretty good.  Best known for its willingness to do just about anything to bring customers in, Club Seven lasted a whopping 40 months before making way for the $11 billion CityCenter project.  In those four years, Club seven tried everything from a male revue (Men The Show) to having an under 21, yet nothing worked.

While many of these nightclubs fizzled out for obvious reasons, Light Nightclub's closing was a real loss.  There was a time when Light Nightclub was the most influential hotspot in town, even going as far as to be the first to offer patrons bottle service. Light peacefully died during Labor Day Weekend 2007.

But just before you start to think that this story is all doom and gloom, Light Nightclub is being resurrected this year!  On April 26, 2013, Light will be reborn at Mandalay Bay.  Turned on by Cirque du Soleil, this cutting-edge nightclub will not only revive the spirit of the beloved original, but also show off the newest technology.  With the debut just over a month away, now is your chance to get tickets and see why everybody was so sad to see Light Nightclub go.

Come Celebrate Common's Birthday at The Bank Nightclub!

I love birthday performances.  It's the one time when a musician isn't trying to hawk a new album or get you to buy a single; they are there simply for the love of performing music and having a great time.  Things are a little less serious and everybody walks away with a memory they'll never forget.  Birthday performances rule.

On March 15, you can help celebrate Common's 41st birthday with this exclusive live performance at The Bank Nightclub at Bellagio.  He's Bill O'Reilly's nemesis and one of the most thoughtful rappers around, even getting an invite to the White House.  Now you can see him perform in person.  The night also includes DJ IKON and the girls of Arizona.  Seriously.

For more information head over to the The Bank Nightclub page at NiteLife Vegas!
